Airfreight Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Airfreight Controller to lead our airfreight department at Medium Freight Company in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of air cargo operations, ensuring efficiency, cost‑control and compliance with customs regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor departmental costs and enforce adherence to established processes and procedures.
• Perform quality checks on freight estimates, landside charges and cartage amounts.
• Accompany sales and service teams on client visits to provide technical freight expertise.
• Coordinate timely customs clearance and ensure on‑time delivery of consignments.
• Maintain effective communication with airlines, freight forwarders, trucking companies and agents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in airfreight operations, preferably in a supervisory or senior role.
• Strong understanding of customs regulations and freight cost structures.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively across departments.
