Air Conditioning Technician

About the role

Isambane Mining is looking for a qualified Air Conditioning Technician to support the Engineering Manager in maintaining and repairing climate control systems on heavy earth‑moving equipment used in opencast mining. The role ensures optimal equipment availability, operator comfort and compliance with company standards, client requirements and the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, repair and maintain air‑conditioning and climate‑control systems on heavy mining equipment.
• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and fault finding to maximise reliability.
• Repair or replace compressors, condensers, evaporators, hoses, fittings, electrical components and refrigerant circuits.
• Recharge systems and conduct leak detection in line with industry and environmental regulations.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, complete job cards, inspection reports and timesheets.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) and recognised trade test where applicable.
• Valid Air‑Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years experience on heavy earth‑moving equipment in an opencast mining environment.
• Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and maintenance‑management systems).
• Valid Code B driver’s licence and medically fit as per mine requirements.
