Agronomist – Crop Protection Specialist

About the role

Villa Crop Protection is seeking qualified and experienced agronomists for two regional vacancies in South Africa. The role involves providing expert product and agronomy support to distributors and agents, enhancing the value of Villa’s crop protection solutions through technical advice, crop‑specific expertise, and collaborative relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Technical Product Support – Provide in‑field technical guidance on Villa’s crop protection products, conduct demonstrations and follow‑up visits.
• Agronomic Advisory – Offer agronomy support tailored to regional crops, advise on integrated solutions and stay abreast of pest, disease and environmental trends.
• Relationship Building – Build and maintain long‑term relationships with distributors, agents and growers, acting as the trusted technical face of Villa.
• Influence & Market Development – Support sales by influencing product uptake, identifying regional opportunities and providing market intelligence.
• Business Planning – Develop and implement a regional business plan with clear goals and actions.

Required profile

• Diploma, BAgric or BSc degree in agronomy, plant pathology, entomology or a closely related field.
• CropLife accreditation and at least 2 years’ experience in the agriculture crop‑protection industry.
• Strong knowledge of both business and technical aspects of crop‑protection products.
• Proven experience working with farmers, agents and dealership management.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally, reprioritise quickly and manage time effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
