Agricultural Manager

About the role

Mount Carmel Farms is seeking an experienced Agricultural Manager to lead the planning and coordination of its farms, nurseries, and greenhouses. The role involves overseeing all stages of vegetable production, from planting through to harvest, while ensuring high‑quality yields and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and optimise planting, fertilisation, and harvesting processes.
• Hire, train, and manage farm workers, ensuring they are equipped for their tasks.
• Select and maintain appropriate equipment and supplies for crop production.
• Maintain accurate production records and market the annual yield.
• Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies, including supplier negotiations and diversity initiatives.
• Prepare regular production projections and monitor total cost against budget.
• Lead joint business activities with outgrowers and coordinate all phases of agricultural production.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in vegetable agriculture.
• At least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing farm operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or a related field.
• Own transport and South African citizenship.
