Aftersales Technician – Lithium‑Ion Battery Systems

About the role

The Aftersales Technician will join Maxwell+Spark’s after‑sales department in Durban, supporting customers who use lithium‑ion battery systems for forklifts and other material‑handling equipment. The role involves travelling to client sites across the province to diagnose, repair and maintain battery packs and chargers, ensuring reliable operation and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to various customer locations to perform repairs, maintenance and inspections of lithium‑ion battery systems and associated chargers.
• Communicate with end‑users to quickly identify root causes of equipment failures.
• Conduct detailed inspections, run diagnostic tests and interpret results to determine corrective actions.
• Execute on‑site repairs and, when required, perform in‑house rebuilds of battery and charger units.
• Complete all required documentation such as job cards, service reports and administrative records.
• Provide regular feedback to the line manager and be available for after‑hours call‑outs or night‑shift duties as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a related technical field.
• Relevant tertiary qualification – Diploma or Trade (NQF 5/6) in electronic, electrical or auto‑electrical engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and willingness to travel frequently within the province.
• Ability to work independently and report accurately to management.
