Accounts Clerk - Prospecton

About the role

A detail-oriented and organised Accounts Clerk is sought to join the finance team in Prospecton, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records and support the day-to-day accounting operations of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Accounts payable and receivable: process supplier invoices and employee expense claims; capture and reconcile creditor accounts; prepare payment batches and process EFT payments; manage debtor accounts and follow up on outstanding payments; issue customer invoices and credit notes
• General accounting: perform daily bank reconciliations; enter financial transactions into the accounting system (Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks or similar); maintain and update the general ledger; file and organise financial documents; assist with month-end procedures and reports
• Administrative support: respond to supplier and customer account queries; prepare basic financial reports; maintain electronic and physical filing systems; help with ad hoc financial administrative tasks

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 certificate (essential)
• Diploma or certificate in Accounting/Bookkeeping (advantageous)
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar accounts or bookkeeping role
• Experience with accounting software (Pastel, Sage or similar)
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, high attention to detail, good organisation and time management, ability to work independently and meet deadlines, strong written and verbal communication, honesty, reliability and confidentiality
