About the role
The Western Cape Department of Social Development is recruiting a permanent Accounting Clerk for Salary Administration (DSD 98/2026). The position is based in Cape Town CBD and is open to entry-level candidates with Grade 12 or equivalent; no compulsory work experience is required. Applications close on 9 November 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Administer petty cash
- Support banking and cash management
- Perform bookkeeping and systems support
- Process financial-accounting transactions
- Support salary administration
Required profile
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Numeracy, accuracy, organisation and communication skills
Required skills
- Basic financial functions, data-capturing and computer skills
- Knowledge of public-service financial legislation and procedures
- Knowledge of financial operating systems including PERSAL, BAS and LOGIS
