Accountant – Midrand

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Accountant to join our property development team in Midrand. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with South African accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end accounting processes.
• Post journals, accruals and perform general ledger reconciliations.
• Reconcile bank and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Calculate VAT and submit statutory returns.
• Assist with annual audits and provide supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies and relevant legislation.
• Review and reconcile debtor and creditor accounts.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial controls and processes.
• Provide financial guidance to internal stakeholders and perform other finance‑related duties as required.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree.
• Completed SAIPA articles.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of South African accounting standards and tax legislation.
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Pastel Partner/Evolution.
• Proficiency in CaseWare.
