Accountant – Finance Function Owner

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to take full ownership of the finance function for a leading business in the live events and commercial partnerships space. This permanent, office‑based role offers genuine ownership, variety and exposure to a commercially focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete finance function, including daily cashbooks, bank reconciliations and payment loading.
• Process supplier invoices, issue customer invoices and handle debtors and creditors.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, trial balances and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Produce weekly cash‑flow forecasts and oversee VAT, payroll administration and tax schedule preparation.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, audit packs and quarterly board reports.
• Perform job costing, profitability reporting across multiple projects and provide commercial insights to divisional managers.
• Maintain corporate governance, statutory records and support operational initiatives, supplier reviews and process improvements.

Required profile

• Completed degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Practical experience with Xero and Sage accounting software.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
• Hands‑on, independent work style with strong communication and client‑facing abilities.
• Willingness to adopt new technologies, including AI tools responsibly.
