Accountant – Client Advisory (Remote – South Africa)

About the role

Our US‑based client advisory firm is seeking a seasoned accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for small and medium‑sized businesses. The role is fully remote and based in South Africa, offering the chance to work directly with clients and support their financial growth.

Key responsibilities

• Own accurate, timely monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting for assigned client accounts.
• Manage month‑end close processes in QuickBooks Online and related platforms, continuously improving efficiency.
• Prepare periodic management reports and financial summaries for client decision‑making.
• Collaborate with internal accounting teams, external advisors, and service providers as needed.
• Monitor financial performance, flagging opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Analyse financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
• Review corporate structures for tax efficiency and process improvement.
• Develop and document finance processes, controls, and internal procedures as the account scales.
• Support rollout of financial systems and reporting tools.
• Lead client‑facing advisory conversations as a trusted extension of the client’s finance function.
• Drive adoption of technology and AI tools to automate accounting processes.

Required profile

• SAIPA, SAICA, AGA or CIMA qualified with articles completed at a small or medium‑sized accounting firm.
• Based in South Africa with a dedicated home office, reliable high‑speed internet and backup power.
• Native or fully fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting and management reporting.
• Strong ethical standards and commitment to financial compliance and integrity.
