Ward Clerk – Hospital Administration

About the role

The Ward Clerk will support the daily operations of Life Kingsbury Hospital, reporting to the Unit Manager. This full‑time position combines secretarial duties with billing, stock management and patient administration.

Key responsibilities

• Process all ward billing and ensure accurate patient accounts and cost sheets.
• Maintain preferred stock levels, generate and place orders, and manage stock transfers using SAP.
• Capture patient data, file records, and perform general clerical tasks as directed by the Unit Manager and senior nurses.
• Participate in formulary implementation, cycle counts, dead‑stock management and item master maintenance.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with other hospital departments and respond to queries promptly.

Required profile

• Matric qualification with at least one year of general administrative experience.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Working knowledge of the SAP system and experience in hospital stock control.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, stressful environment with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering good relationships with doctors, staff and suppliers.
