Theatre Assistant - Medical Devices

About the role

A medical devices company in KwaZulu-Natal is looking for a Theatre Assistant to play a key support role in the surgical environment. The role ensures smooth theatre support, accurate documentation, efficient product logistics and good relationships with hospital and theatre staff, supporting the sales team during operations.

Key responsibilities

• Attend scheduled surgeries and support theatre cases alongside the sales team
• Prepare surgical sets, implants and instruments so they are complete before each case
• Provide real-time logistical support in theatre and join a rotational after-hours and weekend on-call schedule
• Build knowledge of the product portfolio and help surgeons and theatre staff understand its value
• Spot upselling opportunities during theatre interactions and pass them to the sales team
• Complete delivery notes and documentation for consignment and loan sets, keeping records for traceability and audits
• Help transport, deliver and return surgical sets, check monthly consignment stock and report discrepancies
• Support sales reps with follow-ups and act as a reliable contact between the company and healthcare professionals

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification (clinical, medical, science, business or related field preferred)
• 1-3 years of related experience in healthcare, medical devices, clinical or sales-support settings is beneficial
• Knowledge of medical devices and surgical environments is advantageous
• Valid driver's licence, own reliable transport and willingness to travel between hospital sites
• Fluent English, flexible hours including after-hours and weekends
