Technical Specialist – Roads & Highways

About the role

The Technical Specialist will provide professional engineering services for Roads & Highways projects, leading and executing medium to large transportation infrastructure initiatives in Cape Town.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and deliver medium/large transportation infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate multi‑disciplinary project teams and oversee design standards.
• Control budgets, resources and outsourcing, and agree project budgets with other sections.
• Prepare and author technical reports and ensure quality of team deliverables.
• Supervise engineers and technicians in inspections and compliance checks.
• Develop and improve design procedures specific to the functional group.
• Submit tenders, draft bid responses and win projects for the function.
• Maintain client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering or higher degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is essential.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in transportation infrastructure, with strong geometric design background.
• In‑depth knowledge of government standards, codes and documentation.
