Traffic Engineer

About the role

The Traffic Engineer will be responsible for the technical design of road and highway projects in Cape Town. The role involves delivering high‑quality technical reports, leading a small team, and ensuring designs meet time and cost targets while complying with specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Draft technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality.
• Lead a small team of Technicians/Draughtsmen on project tasks.
• Query design details and suggest more acceptable solutions.
• Present and represent technical work in meetings and presentations.
• Ensure completion of assigned tasks within time and cost constraints.
• Check and inspect constructed works for compliance with design and specifications.
• Assist with straightforward bids and cost estimations.
• Train Technicians/Draughtsmen in relevant software tools.
• Manage meeting schedules, agendas, and compile minutes.
• Provide assistance to senior Engineers in checking technical designs.
• Perform design, costing, and specification duties as directed.

Required profile

• B.Eng or B.Tech degree or Advanced Diploma from an accredited university.
• Approximately three years of relevant experience.
• Previous design experience with Civil3D (advantageous).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle for business travel.
• Valid passport for domestic and international travel as required.
