Tax Commercial Lawyer – In‑House Legal Counsel

About the role

A leading investment group is looking for a senior Tax Commercial Lawyer to join its in‑house legal team. The role focuses on complex tax, commercial and structuring matters across the group’s investment and fiduciary activities, providing strategic legal support to senior business and finance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑house legal advice on tax and commercial structuring matters.
• Advise on trusts, estates, fiduciary structures and private client arrangements.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
• Support the structuring of investment‑related legal arrangements within the group.
• Offer legal guidance on regulatory and tax considerations impacting business activities.
• Partner with senior internal stakeholders on strategic legal matters.
• Contribute to governance, risk management and legal frameworks.

Required profile

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• 8–12 years post‑articles experience.
• Strong background in tax and commercial law.
• Significant experience in trusts, estates or private client structuring.
• Training or experience in a top‑tier commercial law firm (preferred).
• Strong drafting, analytical and advisory capability.
• Ability to operate confidently in a senior in‑house legal environment.
