Site Supervisor

About the role

Chart Industries (Howden) is seeking a Site Supervisor to lead shutdown projects and maintenance activities across customer sites in South Africa. The role involves coordinating mechanical and welding work, ensuring safety and quality standards, and acting as the primary point of contact on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in pre‑project discussions, define scope of work and allocate resources.
• Plan and interpret project requirements from production orders and compile spares lists.
• Control stock of tools and equipment, ensuring availability and condition.
• Enforce safety regulations, site safety files and quality procedures on‑site.
• Organise daily activities, monitor progress against the bar chart and report to the Site Manager.
• Expedite receipt of spares, manage inventory and endorse timesheets.
• Perform welding or mechanical supervision, develop repair procedures and verify welding qualifications.
• Audit data books, coordinate welding activities and maintain project documentation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or N3 Engineering qualification; trade‑tested Mechanical Fitter.
• Level 1 welding fabrication inspector certificate.
• 3‑5 years supervisory experience in power stations, mining or petro‑chemical environments.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Project) and NEC 3 contract administration.
• Valid driver’s licence.
