Shift Technician

About the role

The Shift Technician will support the plant’s electrical and automation systems, ensuring continuous production in a fast‑moving consumer goods environment. You will work on a rotating shift schedule, handling both routine maintenance and urgent fault resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret wiring diagrams and electrical drawings for plant equipment.
• Perform methodical fault finding, detection and maintenance on motors, pumps, control panels and distribution boards.
• Maintain sensor control, VSD, HMI, switchgear, AC motors, relay logic, temperature controllers and industrial instrumentation.
• Execute basic PLC input/output tasks and repairs on production machinery.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, OHS regulations and maintain excellent housekeeping.
• Participate in mini‑business operating activities and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Matric and Trade Certificate – Electrician.
• 3‑5 years experience in FMCG electrical/automation environments.
• Experience with bottling machinery is a distinct advantage.
• Familiarity with Siemens S7 PLCs and high‑speed machinery.
• Self‑motivated, able to work with limited supervision and under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, punctuality and alignment with Heineken values.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.
