Senior Specialist Technology Governance

About the role

The Senior Specialist Technology Governance will ensure that M-Pesa Africa’s technology operations are reliable, compliant and aligned with strategic objectives. Acting as a bridge between technology, audit, risk and compliance teams, the role drives framework adoption and provides independent assurance that technology services are well‑governed.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct governance reviews of technology services, programmes and vendors.
• Apply established frameworks (COBIT, ISO 27001, ITIL) to assess control adherence.
• Identify, document and remediate key technology risks, control gaps and operational vulnerabilities.
• Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to define mitigation plans and ensure audit readiness.
• Promote governance, risk and compliance awareness across the organisation.
• Support continuous improvement of IT policies and control frameworks across all technology domains.
• Track and report control performance metrics and compliance scores.
• Prepare governance dashboards and insights for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Significant experience in IT governance, risk management or related audit functions.
• Proven ability to work with technology leaders, risk owners and external auditors.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on proactive risk identification and remediation.
• Excellent communication skills to influence and educate stakeholders on governance principles.
