Senior Manager, Carbon Projects Delivery

About the role

Conservation International’s Carbon Finance unit within the Nature Finance Group invests in Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) that reduce deforestation and restore critical ecosystems. The Senior Manager, Carbon Projects Delivery will lead the development and implementation of a portfolio of NCS carbon projects across Africa, ensuring timely execution, compliance with certification standards, and alignment with CI’s high‑quality principles.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and deliver a pipeline of NCS carbon projects in South Africa, Kenya, or Botswana.
• Coordinate with project partners, country offices, and cross‑functional teams to meet milestones, including Project Description (PD) and Monitoring Report (MR) submissions.
• Support projects through validation and verification processes in voluntary and compliance carbon markets.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation, assess risks, and provide on‑the‑ground support.
• Collaborate closely with the Keystone Protected Area Financing (KPAF) team and the Rob Walton Foundation to catalyze protected‑area investments.
• Maintain alignment with CI’s principles of community engagement, benefit‑sharing, biodiversity outcomes, and safeguards.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering NCS or carbon finance projects in Africa.
• Strong project‑management background with ability to meet timelines and budgets.
• Familiarity with voluntary and compliance carbon market mechanisms and certification standards.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, Indigenous peoples, and private‑sector partners.
• Ability to travel frequently for field visits and on‑site monitoring.
