Senior IT Technician / Systems Coordinator

About the role

The meat processing plant in Springs, Gauteng is seeking a hands‑on Senior IT Technician / Systems Coordinator. Reporting to the CIO, you will own the IT environment across the abattoir and farming operations, providing both day‑to‑day support and strategic technical guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Run the internal IT helpdesk and act as first responder for all technology issues.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, reporting and operational system problems.
• Coordinate escalations with third‑party service providers and external programmers.
• Support Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Windows environments, including advanced Excel reporting.
• Develop, maintain and connect SQL queries, stored procedures and Power BI dashboards.
• Assist with implementation of new systems, workflows, ERP (Sage Evolution), MES (Innova/Axin) and feedlot solutions (Gigalot).
• Maintain networking infrastructure, emergency repairs and specialised equipment such as scales, label printers, PDA devices and two‑way radios.
• Manage issuance, tracking and security awareness for all company IT assets.
• Participate in standby and after‑hours support for a 24/7 operation.

Required profile

• Strong general IT support and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and solve problems autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills and a valid driver’s licence with reliable transport.
• Fluency in Afrikaans.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office, Outlook and Windows.
• Advanced Excel (formulas, reporting).
• SQL – writing queries, stored procedures and reports.
• Power BI dashboard development.
• Sage Evolution ERP.
• MES systems such as Innova or Axin.
• Feedlot system (Gigalot).
• Networking knowledge and emergency repair capability.
• Experience with scales/weighing systems, label printers, PDA devices and two‑way radios.
• IT security awareness.
