Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Mukuru is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, resilient cloud platforms that enable fast, safe delivery of fintech solutions. The role works within the Technology Solutions function and collaborates closely with Cloud Infrastructure, Architecture, Software Engineering, and Security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build, operate, and continuously improve cloud infrastructure across production, staging, and development environments.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to boost reliability and delivery speed.
• Monitor, secure, and optimise cloud platforms for performance, availability, and recoverability.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability; contribute to incident response and post‑incident reviews.
• Support redundancy, failover, backup, and disaster‑recovery mechanisms aligned with business RTOs and RPOs.
• Apply DevSecOps practices with the security team, including vulnerability management, patching, intrusion detection, and secure configuration.
• Collaborate with software engineers to reduce friction between development and operations.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and runbooks.
• Research and evaluate new tools that improve platform reliability, security, and developer experience.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (required) and preferably a relevant tertiary qualification.
• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or systems engineering.
• Strong experience with AWS; exposure to Azure or GCP is a plus.
• Solid Linux administration in production environments.
• Experience supporting secure, compliant environments (PCI‑DSS or ISO27001 advantageous).
• Familiarity with agile delivery practices and DevOps culture.
