Senior Data Centre Architect

About the role

AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team is seeking a Senior Data Centre Architect to lead architectural design across data centre projects in South Africa. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, compliant solutions that support the firm’s global digital strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate architectural discipline for data centre projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Develop comprehensive design solutions, including calculations, technical drawings, and engineering reports.
• Conduct design reviews and verify compliance with briefs, specifications, and industry standards.
• Manage cross‑disciplinary coordination to produce integrated solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff on design methodology.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation, specifications, construction drawings, and as‑built records.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to communicate design intent and resolve queries.
• Ensure designs meet building codes, regulations, and data centre standards.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, and construction review.

Required profile

• BArch or BSc in Architecture.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an architect, preferably in data centre or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Registered full Professional Architect (SACAP).
