Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) – 12‑Month Contract – Compliance Platform

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build a company‑wide compliance platform for South Africa’s largest financial services group. The role focuses on creating robust backend services, establishing CI/CD pipelines, and designing cloud‑native, event‑driven systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop backend services for policy and claims management within the compliance platform.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
• Create APIs, define data ownership, and ensure contract‑based integration.
• Build and maintain event‑driven architecture using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to enforce clear boundaries, versioning, and scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in backend development with .NET Core.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
• Exposure to Kafka or other messaging systems and event‑driven design.
• Strong understanding of API design, versioning, and system integration.
• Experience delivering scalable, distributed systems.
