Sample Preparation Technician – Laboratory Support

About the role

The Sample Preparation Technician is responsible for receiving, handling, preparing, storing and dispatching laboratory samples in a high‑throughput food testing environment. The role requires strict adherence to ISO 17025 quality standards and the ability to maintain accurate records while working in a busy, dynamic setting.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and prompt receipt, preparation, storage and dispatch of samples according to SOPs and ISO 17025 requirements.
• Maintain precise sample tracking records and follow laboratory protocols for analysis requests.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities, report deviations and support safety and quality initiatives.
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe, wearing appropriate protective clothing at all times.

Required profile

• National Diploma or BSc in Chemistry, Food Technology, Food Biotechnology, Microbiology or Biochemistry.
• Minimum 2‑3 years experience in sample preparation within a routine high‑throughput ISO 17025 food testing laboratory.
• Strong attention to detail under pressure and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues and customers.

Required skills

• Sample preparation for ISO 17025 food testing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and data‑capturing tools.
• Knowledge of laboratory process flow and handling of hazardous materials.
