About the role
HMD is seeking a Retail Business Manager for its Southern Africa team. The role will manage the interface between HMD and its branded retail and distribution channels in South Africa, focusing on sales performance across national chain stores. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Southern Africa, the manager will be accountable for driving sell‑through and sell‑out results and expanding the device and companion portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Drive sell‑through and sell‑out in assigned territory and stores.
- Collaborate with retail accounts to set quarterly and monthly sales plans.
- Monitor daily, weekly and monthly sales to achieve targets.
- Ensure stock availability across all stores according to agreed norms.
- Collect sell‑out and inventory reports and feed them into HMD’s sales management system.
- Prepare quarterly sales forecasts at model and account level.
- Design and run promotions to maintain or increase market share.
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock assessments and coordinate with customers to maintain optimal stock.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing sales performance in South African national retail chains.
- Ability to develop and execute local sales plans aligned with corporate growth strategy.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with key retail and distribution partners.
- Analytical mindset for tracking sales data, forecasting and inventory management.
- Ability to work under direct reporting to senior management.
