Quality Assurance Coordinator

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Quality Assurance Coordinator to support the SHEQ Manager in maintaining food safety and quality standards across our Graaff‑Reinet and Centurion sites. The role combines hands‑on sampling, laboratory liaison, internal audits and team leadership to ensure that every product meets the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled swabs, surface, air and water sampling and send results to an external laboratory.
• Identify corrective actions for out‑of‑range results, implement training, water treatment or cleaning, and verify effectiveness with follow‑up samples.
• Manage water sampling in line with SANS 241 requirements and submit analyses to the lab.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of Quality Controller checks and raw‑material micro‑testing.
• Calibrate equipment, maintain the Master Calibration Sheet and coordinate recalibrations.
• Deliver GMP and pest‑control training, record attendance and assessment results.
• Draft, update and communicate checklists and SOPs, keeping records of changes.
• Lead customer‑complaint investigations, coordinate with engineering, production and veterinary staff, and follow through lab analyses.
• Run internal audit schedules, report findings, capture corrective actions on the Master Gap List and verify closure.
• Support the QA team during food‑safety incidents, mock recalls and external audits.
• Manage team attendance, performance, training, disciplinary actions and recruitment.

Required skills

• Equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) implementation.
• Food safety standards knowledge (FSSC 22000, SANS 241).
• Microbiological sampling and testing procedures.
