Operations Analyst: Discretionary Fund Management

About the role

This position supports the Head of Operations at Symmetry DFM, overseeing operational, regulatory and compliance duties for the Financial Services Provider. It manages the full investment operations lifecycle, ensuring data accuracy and effective risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Investment operations trade lifecycle management – daily cash flow handling, trade processing, reconciliations and settlements, including model portfolio restructures and LISP rebalances.
• Maintain data integrity across operational and reporting platforms.
• Prepare fund fact sheets, monthly reports and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Support internal controls, risk management frameworks and audit trails.
• Assist with mandate and AML monitoring.
• Engage with stakeholders (LISPs, MANCOs, internal and external) and support onboarding of new products and mandates.
• Contribute to process automation, workflow optimisation and system testing or upgrades.

Required profile

• Honours degree in Finance, Commerce or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of investment operations experience in asset management, preferably in discretionary fund management.
• Strong understanding of the full trade lifecycle and settlement procedures.
• Knowledge of South African regulatory framework (CISCA, Regulation 28, ASISA).
• Self‑driven, deadline‑oriented with strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel – data modelling, validation, pivot tables and analytics.
• Familiarity with Morningstar, StyleAdvisor and LISP platforms.
• Experience with DFM system functionalities.
