About the role
The Operational Basic Ambulance Assistant supports ER24 Southern Cape in responding to emergency calls and delivering basic medical care within the defined scope of practice. The role involves ensuring readiness of ambulance services, providing patient care on the road, and representing the service positively to the public.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls
- Administer patient care in line with scope of practice
- Market and maintain a positive public image for ER24
Required profile
- Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate (essential education)
- Completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (desired)
- 6 months to 1 year of road BLS experience (essential)
- 2 years of road BLS experience (desired)
Required skills
- Knowledge of facilities, travel routes and the demographical area
- Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
- Application of best practice in EMS
- Proficiency in written and verbal English
- Ability to complete Patient Report Forms
