New Business Consultant (Medical Scheme)

About the role

Join our team as a New Business Consultant and play a pivotal role in delivering a seamless onboarding experience for medical scheme members. You will ensure that new member applications are processed accurately and in compliance with underwriting guidelines, while managing any applicable Late Joiner Penalties.

Key responsibilities

• Assess member application forms, including medical conditions, medication, and previous scheme certificates for completeness and accuracy.
• Apply the correct underwriting category based on clinical information and scheme guidelines.
• Determine and apply Late Joiner Penalties where required.
• Update and close new business workflows and maintain the group business register.
• Monitor and update Service Level Agreements (SLAs) daily.
• Respond to written correspondence and enquiries from members, brokers and clients in a timely and professional manner.
• Communicate professionally with all stakeholders and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
• Stay informed of legislative changes and incorporate them into underwriting procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or tertiary qualification; clinical background is advantageous.
• At least 1 year of experience in medical scheme administration, preferably in new business and underwriting.
• Familiarity with the MIP system is a plus.
