Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Global Riser is seeking a mid‑level Mechanical Engineer to lead design and development of capital drilling equipment. The successful candidate will work independently, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and field service teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee multiple engineering projects and provide guidance to team members.
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers and technicians.
• Design, analyse, and optimise equipment using strength calculations, FEA, and 3D CAD modelling.
• Generate manufacturing data packs, including BOMs, work instructions, and manuals.
• Manage projects from concept through delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry codes.
• Provide technical advice to technicians and coach new personnel.
• Monitor compliance with applicable codes, QC policies, and safety standards.
• Prepare detailed reports and communicate progress to management and customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
• Three to six years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong background in engineering theory, design, project management, and manufacturing.
• Ability to work unsupervised and supervise other personnel.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams).
• SolidWorks for 3D CAD modelling.
• SolidWorks Simulation or Abaqus for FEA.
• Mathcad, MATLAB or similar for engineering calculations.
• Knowledge of ASME VIII, API, ABS and DNV class rules.
• Understanding of fabrication, boiler making/welding, and precision machining.
