Mechanical Development Engineer

About the role

Join a specialist mining engineering environment where clever mechanical designs become powerful, field‑proven raise boring equipment. You will be responsible for creating and refining mechanical systems that operate reliably in demanding underground conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for raise boring equipment.
• Take concepts through prototyping, testing and commissioning phases.
• Investigate failures and engineer smarter, more reliable solutions.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, suppliers and underground operations.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• 5–8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Registration as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
• Medically fit for site and underground work.

Required skills

• Advanced Autodesk Inventor skills.
• Experience in heavy equipment design, prototyping and testing.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical power transmission.
• Mining, drilling or raise boring experience is a big plus.
