Maritime Stakeholder Partnership Intern

About the role

The South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) is looking for a motivated intern to support its Maritime Stakeholder Partnership Programme. The role involves coordinating day‑to‑day administrative tasks, facilitating collaboration among maritime clusters, and assisting with research and outreach activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing events such as trade shows, travel shows, and port tours.
• Support development of cluster alliances, arrange international matchmaking events, and maintain the cluster website portal.
• Participate in project planning, monitoring progress, and ensuring documentation complies with project frameworks.
• Coordinate meetings, take minutes, convert actions into implementation plans, and prepare reports for stakeholders.
• Provide secretarial support: answer calls, schedule meetings, arrange venues, and manage the programme filing system.

Required profile

• Honours degree or equivalent (NQF level 8) in ocean sciences, maritime studies, coastal research or related field.
• Excellent organisational, research and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality.
