Legal Advisor

About the role

The Legal Advisor will provide expert legal advice, draft and review agreements, and support compliance activities across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Legal, the role ensures the company operates within all relevant laws and regulations while protecting its reputation and business interests.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and act as a subject‑matter expert on potential legal risks.
• Negotiate, draft, and review bespoke contracts, NDAs, terms and conditions, and legal notices.
• Maintain and update contract repositories, legal template registers, and related databases.
• Manage the company’s panel of external legal experts and oversee litigation matters.
• Perform corporate legal and secretarial duties, including board minutes, company registration, and governance structure management.
• Support other departments with their legal requirements and ensure compliance with legislative environments.
• Drive BBBEE transformation initiatives, monitor progress, and report on related projects.

Required profile

• Strong background in legal compliance and corporate governance.
• Experience in contract negotiation, drafting, and review.
• Ability to advise senior management on legal risks and mitigation strategies.
• Familiarity with South African legislative frameworks and BBBEE requirements.
