Legal Advisor – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contractor

About the role

The Legal Advisor will provide comprehensive legal guidance to KFC’s management across company‑operated and franchised markets in Sub‑Sahara Africa. Working directly with the Chief Legal Officer, you will help ensure compliance, manage contractual relationships, and support franchise operations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate legal agreements with suppliers, service providers and franchisees.
• Approve and monitor competitions, promotions and trademark usage.
• Advise on franchise documentation, laws and related communications.
• Handle franchisee matters, including transactions, negotiations and enforcement.
• Provide legal training, brand‑protection guidance and compliance education.
• Support dispute resolution, general contract and commercial issues for senior stakeholders.
• Liaise with internal legal teams, auditors, external counsel and other business departments.
• Manage contractual disputes, litigation and documentation related to franchising.
• Undertake negotiation, documentation and management of contractual relationships across the business.

Required profile

• Law degree (LLB) and admission as an attorney.
• Specialised knowledge of corporate and company law.
• Experience in franchising and quick‑service restaurant (QSR) environments is preferred.
• Commercially astute, solution‑oriented and able to think creatively.
• Self‑starter with a strong sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to counsel and influence internal teams, franchisees and suppliers.
