Junior SHE Officer

About the role

The Junior SHE Officer will support the implementation and maintenance of the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) strategy at a chemical manufacturing site. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in a dynamic industrial environment and a clear pathway for growth within the SHE discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example to embed SHE as the top plant value.
• Coordinate site risk assessments across operational departments.
• Act as IMS coordinator for site‑specific SOPs, work instructions and records.
• Assist the Risk & Compliance Specialist to ensure legal health, safety and environmental requirements are met.
• Audit contractor safety files before work commences and keep them up to date.
• Follow up on security threats and investigations.
• Oversee medical examinations for all employees.
• Develop and maintain the SHE training structure.
• Inspect portable fire equipment, safety showers, eye‑wash stations and first‑aid kits.
• Identify and manage waste streams per department.
• Investigate incidents, track non‑conformances and link them to audit findings.
• Participate in the internal audit programme (IMS).

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in a SHE‑related discipline (NDSAM advantageous).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail, punctuality and ability to work in a team.
• Positive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement.
