Junior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering company in the combustion and thermal processing industry, is looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to join their Johannesburg team. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career engineer with a strong academic background and a passion for thermodynamics and heat transfer.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, and optimisation of combustion systems and related mechanical components.
• Support senior engineers with technical calculations, simulations, and analysis.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including electrical and process engineers.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong academic record.
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel when required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with engineering design software such as SolidWorks.
• Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD or similar tools.
