Junior Cyber Security GRC Specialist

About the role

Our client in the telecommunications sector is seeking a Junior Cyber Security GRC Specialist on a 12‑month contract in Midrand, South Africa. The role focuses on governance, risk and compliance (GRC) activities, ensuring that access to technology systems is properly managed and secured.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
• Review and maintain user access rights and access policies.
• Support compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, PCI‑DSS and data‑protection regulations.
• Assist in the application of GDPR and other data‑privacy requirements.
• Apply the Cyber Health Adaptive Risk Method (CHARM) to assess and mitigate risks.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and support team leadership activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• At least one professional security certification (CISM, CISA, CISSP or CEH).
• Minimum 2 years experience with ISO 27001, PCI‑DSS or similar security standards.
• Experience with GDPR, data‑protection laws and cyber‑security governance.
• Hands‑on experience managing cyber‑security technologies and operations.
• Proven ability to supervise or coordinate teams and manage stakeholders.
