Junior Certified Aviation Technician (Avionics)

About the role

FlySafair is seeking a Junior Certified Aviation Technician specialized in avionics to join its line‑maintenance team. You will support daily and weekly aircraft inspections, ensure compliance with SACAA regulations, and contribute to the airworthiness of B737‑800 and B737‑8 (MAX) fleets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct line‑maintenance and routine inspections on avionics systems.
• Perform fault finding, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
• Execute weekly service checks and thorough daily aircraft inspections.
• Record all maintenance activities in accordance with SACAA requirements.
• Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to health, safety, fire and accident prevention standards.
• Communicate clearly with team members to ensure smooth workflow.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Trade Test Certificate in an avionics‑related field (e.g., Avionician, Aircraft Instrument Mechanic, Aircraft Electrician, Aircraft Radio Technician) recognised by SACAA.
• Licensed AME with SACAA WI, W2, W3.
• Completed B737‑800 system course (essential) and B737‑8 (MAX) system course (advantageous).
• Minimum of 3 years aviation maintenance experience, preferably on B737‑800 avionics.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and travel on short notice.
• Valid South African passport and driver’s licence.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Required skills

• Avionics maintenance and fault‑finding techniques.
• Line‑maintenance procedures for B737‑800 and B737‑8 (MAX) aircraft.
• Knowledge of SACAA regulatory requirements.
• Use of technical aircraft publications and documentation.
• Microsoft Office suite.
