Industrial Site Base Ambulance Emergency Assistant

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking an Industrial Site Base Ambulance Emergency Assistant to respond to emergency calls on site and deliver medical care within the defined scope of practice. The role requires physical fitness and successful completion of medical assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls.
• Administer patient care in line with the scope of practice.
• Provide professional emergency services to site‑based clients.

Required profile

• Essential education: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or a Higher Certificate in emergency medical care.
• Desired education: Training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
• Essential experience: Minimum 1 year of EMS experience.
• Desired experience: 1 year of ILS (Industrial Site) experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of facilities, travel routes and the demographical area.
• Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
• Familiarity with EMS environment.
• Proficiency in written and verbal English.
• Ability to complete Patient Report Forms.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OSH Act, Mine Health and Safety Act) and risk management.
• Application of best practice in emergency medical care.
