Industrial Relations Officer – Labour Law Specialist

About the role

G4S South Africa is seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Officer to provide strategic support to HR Business Partners and management. You will manage labour risk across the region, ensuring compliance with the Labour Relations Act, company policies, and health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Handle disciplinary matters, incapacity inquiries, grievances, and CCMA cases in line with the LRA and company procedures.
• Represent the company in CCMA disputes, conciliation, arbitration, and labour court proceedings.
• Preside over disciplinary hearings, ensuring consistency and adherence to statutory guidelines.
• Maintain accurate disciplinary dockets, case registers, and reporting dashboards.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners on complex employee relations issues.
• Manage diary and SLA timeframes for all industrial relations activities.
• Oversee S189A consultation processes and fair selection procedures for terminations.
• Participate in health and safety planning, forums, and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Tertiary qualification in HR Management, Industrial Relations, or related field.
• Proven experience in labour law and industrial relations within a South African context.
• Strong knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and CCMA processes.
• Excellent judgment, results‑driven mindset, and ability to work independently.
