Imports Manager

About the role

The Imports Manager will lead the daily operations of the Imports department at DHL’s Johannesburg Gateway. This role ensures that inbound shipments are cleared efficiently, comply with customs legislation, and meet DHL’s high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement of customer satisfaction through effective import service initiatives.
• Manage import customs cases, including SARS Stops, ensuring timely resolution and compliance.
• Oversee inbound clearance processes to guarantee accuracy and adherence to DHL quality standards.
• Monitor daily import operations, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of import regulations and customs legislation.
• Build strong relationships with customers, internal teams, and external partners to resolve import‑related issues swiftly.
• Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Management, Customs Clearance, or a related field.
• Proven experience managing import operations in a logistics environment.
• Strong understanding of South African customs regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
