Head of Sales – Commercial Vehicles

About the role

The Head of Sales will lead the commercial vehicle sales division for Sandown Commercial Vehicles, a dealer within the Daimler Truck Southern Africa network. Reporting to senior management, you will drive market growth, ensure an exceptional customer journey, and uphold Mercedes‑Benz brand standards across South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the truck sales team to achieve volume and profitability targets.
• Develop and execute sales strategies, forecasts and annual business plans.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet operators and key commercial customers.
• Manage pricing, deal structuring, trade‑ins and the quality of used‑truck retail offers.
• Oversee marketing activities, promotions and customer events.
• Ensure full compliance with Mercedes‑Benz standards, processes and brand guidelines.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus a relevant 3‑year qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence (EC advantageous).
• 5‑8 years of automotive commercial‑vehicle experience within a dealer network, including sales and support functions.
• Proven leadership and sales‑management capabilities.
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial understanding of fleet sales.
• Excellent customer relationship and communication abilities.
