Head of Rewards – Customer Loyalty Platform

About the role

This senior leadership position will steer the strategy and growth of a nationally recognised customer rewards and engagement platform for a major South African retailer. Reporting to the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, you will own performance, digital adoption and the commercial impact of loyalty initiatives across a multi‑brand ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic vision and aggressive growth agenda for the flagship rewards platform.
• Drive core performance metrics such as tracked revenue, member identification, retention and overall commercial value.
• Design sophisticated customer journeys, CRM programmes and lifecycle communications to maximise participation and lifetime value.
• Accelerate digital engagement across all channels, creating compelling, value‑led user experiences.
• Collaborate with operating companies and brand teams to embed loyalty‑driven strategies that boost acquisition, conversion and group growth.
• Leverage customer insights, analytics and programme reporting to uncover new commercial opportunities.
• Identify and develop new monetisation streams linked to engagement, partnerships and the broader ecosystem.
• Oversee the loyalty and rewards budget and manage a high‑performing, cross‑functional operating model.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing, Digital Marketing or a related analytical field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Customer Lifetime Management, CRM, loyalty programmes, direct marketing or customer growth management.
• At least 5 years of experience in a functional leadership or management capacity.
• Proven ability to translate data into actionable growth strategies and deliver measurable business outcomes.
