Google Cloud Data Engineer – 12‑month contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong Google Cloud expertise to join our technology team on a 12‑month contract in Randburg. The role focuses on building and maintaining cloud‑based data pipelines and solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT workflows and ensure data quality, reliability and performance.
• Work with large, complex datasets to support business and analytical needs.
• Collaborate with engineers, developers, analysts and other stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline and platform issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer in an enterprise environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery and Python.
• Strong SQL skills and experience building ETL/ELT processes.
• Familiarity with GCP data services such as Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Composer/Airflow or Pub/Sub.
• Understanding of cloud‑based data architecture and Agile working methods.
