General Worker – Purification (2 positions)

About the role

Midvaal Local Municipality is seeking two General Workers to support the purification section of its wastewater treatment facilities in Meyerton. The role involves hands‑on physical tasks to maintain the cleanliness and operational efficiency of pump stations and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload materials and equipment safely using appropriate tools.
• Perform routine cleaning of work areas, including brooming, sludge drying beds, grit channels, clarifier scum and manhole interiors.
• Assist with unblocking pipes, pumps and other wastewater treatment components.
• Carry out any additional labour tasks assigned by the supervisor or superintendent.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 education; Grade 12 or a valid driver’s licence are advantageous.
• At least one year of relevant experience in sewer pump stations, wastewater treatment works or similar municipal environments.
• Good physical health and ability to perform manual labour safely.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, bilingual preferred.

What we offer

• Salary range R 166 392 – R 182 280 per annum (Level 13, Grade 04).
• Total compensation package of approximately R 307 561 per annum, inclusive of benefits.
