General Surgeon

About the role

Mediclinic Lephalale, a private hospital located in the centre of town, is seeking a qualified General Surgeon to join its multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality surgical care in well‑equipped operating theatres and collaborate with specialist physicians, nurses and allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct surgical consultations and assessments for general surgical patients.
• Perform a range of general surgical procedures, both open and minimally invasive where applicable.
• Manage pre‑operative and post‑operative patient care, including follow‑up and discharge planning.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to clinical decision‑making.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and standards.
• Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the surgical department.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialist qualification in General Surgery.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Relevant experience in a private practice or hospital setting.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
