Bagging Plant Operator

About the role

The Bagging Plant Operator leads the safe and efficient operation of the auto‑bagging facilities within a high‑risk chemical manufacturing environment. You will ensure continuous, high‑quality bagging and packaging of emulsion products while providing frontline supervision to operators and supporting the Shift Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve shift production targets for bagged emulsion product and minimise downtime.
• Maintain consistent product flow from the CBEP to the auto‑bagging plant and optimise line speed while protecting equipment and product quality.
• Set up, calibrate and operate automated bagging machinery according to SOPs.
• Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, adjustments and minor repairs on weighers, sealers, conveyors and palletisers.
• Report equipment faults accurately and coordinate with the maintenance team to reduce repetitive breakdowns.
• Complete production logs, shift reports and downtime records, ensuring full traceability and compliance with documentation standards.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with N3–N6 Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering qualification.
• Relevant chemical plant operations or production/manufacturing qualification (advantageous).
• 3–5 years experience in a chemical or high‑risk manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating automated bagging or packaging systems.
• Exposure to emulsions, tank farm or explosives manufacturing (advantageous).
• Experience working in shift‑based production, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
