Underwriter – Commercial & Personal Lines

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to provide underwriting assistance to advisers, focusing on both commercial and personal lines of short‑term insurance. The role involves evaluating risks, preparing quotations, and ensuring accurate policy issuance.

Key responsibilities

• Liaising with clients and advisers to understand risk profiles.
• Preparing and presenting insurance quotations.
• Issuing new policies, renewals, and endorsements.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Recording all relevant details in the designated insurance systems.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
• Short‑term Insurance Certificate (150 credits) and RE5 Certificate.
• At least 5 years of short‑term insurance experience in both commercial and personal lines.
• DOFA confirmation from the FSCA.

Required skills

• Underwriting (commercial and personal lines).
• Insurance policy administration.
