Professional Nurse - High Care

About the role

The Professional Nurse – High Care provides safe, comprehensive nursing care within a specialised unit at Mediclinic Brits. Working on‑site, the role focuses on delivering high‑quality patient care, maintaining safety standards and supporting a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Promote staff competence through a learning environment.
• Ensure all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Additional qualifications such as Midwifery or a postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty are desirable.
• No prior experience required; however, 1 year of post‑graduate qualification experience in a specialised unit is preferred.

Required skills

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping and patient assessment skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Risk identification.
