Neurology Registrar (Locum, 1-year Fixed-term)

About the role

The NHS Lothian is offering a one‑year locum appointment as a Neurology Registrar at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. This full‑time (40 hours per week) fixed‑term position provides comprehensive exposure to all core elements of neurology training within a busy tertiary centre.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ward‑based registrar duties, overseeing patient care on the neurology ward.
• Participate in the acute neurology service, including work in the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, management of acute GP referrals and rapid‑access clinics.
• Run subspecialty neurology clinics as part of the rotation schedule.
• Take part in an on‑call rota (1:8 non‑resident) to provide emergency neurology cover.

Required profile

• Medical qualification with full registration to practise in the UK.
• Current experience in neurology or a related specialty.
• Commitment to deliver high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and management of neurological conditions.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with acute care pathways and neurology clinic workflows.
